Explanations of Demographics
My target audience age range is 16 - 24 years old. This thriller opening sequence is open to all ethnic groups and form any social economic background and to male and female. In my thriller opening sequence I will include, some relatable events, such as being followed home by a stalker, which happens quite a lot to people between the ages of 16 to 24 years old. And this will help bring awareness as well such as how to stop yourself from looking like a stalker and scaring someone especially who is a female. There is an advantage to engage a new audience to something new that I am creating, and it is a new opportunity to grab an audience and make sure my opening thriller sequence. I believe there will be some challenges in creating this opening thriller sequence. First of all there will be a challenge of catching the audience's attention straight away when the the opening sequence starts, otherwise the audience will get bored very quickly. After I gain the audience's attention straight away, I will then need something with some tension to keep them on the edge of their seats. And then finally at the end of the opening thriller sequence I will need something that will leave them hanging and wanting more from the opening sequence.
Conventions
In my production of my thriller opening sequence I will be using two different types of conventions. The first one I will be using is the enigma one which is all about mystery which is what my opening sequence is about. My story creates from the very first couple scenes and that's what creates the enigma as, enigma is a key thriller convention. Plot twists are also a key thriller convention, as thriller need some twists to it, to create some tension within the characters.
Industry Requirements
Creating an opening sequence requires some rules and boundaries. And these rules and boundaries are provided by regulatory bodies such as BBFC who regulate films and will regulate my thriller film as well. BBFC will make sure that my thriller film is appropriate for the ages that are shown in the brief. And that my thriller film will attract it's target audience. There may also be some music that may be affected by copyright so PRS will need to be used. Because if I even have a small clip of a song I will still need permission to use it in my thriller film. PRS makes sure the artists get the credit they deserve from what they have produced.
